I enrolled in the program offered by WCCMT and finished it. Went into the program with information that it will be tough and intense (which it was) but still did the work. What i was surprised with was, The amount of student per class was insanely huge, started the group with 46 students. By the end of the program ended with 39. Due to the size, it was really hard to get the teacher’s attention and connect with you when you have questions or needed help with the course, You’d have to schedule a “meeting” and waited for days to get your questions answered.
– Most of these teachers/instructors get out of the building in a hurry because they have to get to their 2nd job, so they dont have time for you.
– No retakes on Midterm exams. If you fail the course, you fail. Even by 1 question. You’d then need to spend 15/16 weeks re-taking that 1 course that you fail. While re-taking, you dont get to participate in their clinic internship (with all the spare time you have), that’s when student lose their hands-on skills.
– The school will take in anyone and anytime. no specific size classrooms. Because they’d like your money. You dont have that teacher / student connection. They dont get to know you. Some of my teachers did not even know/remember my name by the end of term 5…
– Lastly, their board exam success rate is very low, they will do board exam review with you once, if you fail the exam they won’t let you back in to review / help you.
– In the winter, Heater is always breaks down, In the summer, AC is always breaks down.. on top of that escalator also out of order, so senior patients have to use the stairs.. Made me wonder, where did all the money that everyone paid for go..
I’d highly do your research before entering the school… not the program, the school. The program itself is do-able. specially if you have science degree / kinesiology degree. It’s the instructors and the system.
I enrolled in this school and was told the student to teacher ratio was 1:20. More like 1:60, the classes are packed. I was told the demonstration would include additional teachers demonstrating at the same time as the main instructor so everyone would see. No again. Pack 60 people around a small table and put a video camera on it. If you complain about any teacher or course, they accuse you of teacher bashing and being unprofessional. They write letters to you with veiled threats of expulsion. There is one excellent instructor there who truly cares about her students success, the rest don’t have time for you. A few instructors are more interested in showing off and joking around than helping you out. There is minimal practice time. The work load is extremely heavy with material being given given one day and tested on the next with an indication that you must somehow know everything, There are oral exams where you need to memorize and regurgitate.
Overall, this school is more interested in making money by packing in the classes than teaching sufficiently well trained students. Most times, it’s students teaching students or self-learning at a rapid pace.
If I had know how insufficient and unprofessional this school was, I never would have attended.
I regretfully enrolled in the spa program at this college. The college is only interested in your money. It only give you a taste of some modalities that offer at the spa but you don’t have enough time to practice in class. They then push you to do onsite practicum which you work as volunteer for 200 hours. When you actually provide the service to client you are just shocked that you didn’t perform in class but are allowed to on client. Couple of instructors are nice, most of them are fake!! Spa coordinator is so fake that it makes some students want to fuke. She comments on everyone outfits that the color look so good on them even you know that its your worst outfit and you just want to put something on before you get out of the house after a hang over. They also dont like questions relate to their operation. Do research before seriously commit yourself to this college. Langara college, Blanc Macdonald and Vancouver school of body work and massage or the Canadian Institute of Natural Health and Healing.
