7 Quick Ways to Make Quick Cash in College

By   |  September 16, 2009

It’s the beginning of the semester and you’ve just realized that you may have miscalculated a bit and need some additional money for college. You’ve exhausted your financial aid and you’re unable to get a private student loan. So, how can you scrape up some extra cash? Here are 7 quick ways to make extra money in college without selling your blood.

  1. Sell your books. The semester started a few weeks ago for most college students and most of these student’s have held off from buying some of their books. Whether their teacher originally told them it wasn’t needed but now is or they can’t go any longer without buying the book, students are still searching for cheap textbooks. If you have some textbooks you know you won’t need, sell them on used textbook sites like Chegg, Amazon, Ebay or Craigslist. You might also consider placing homemade advertisements on bulletin boards across campus.
  2. Clean out your entertainment collection. All of us have old DVD’s, video games or even CDs lying around just collecting dust. Why not sell these? You can still make some good money selling DVD’s, video games and CD’s on ebay or even at local record stores. Most independent record stores buy more than just CDs now so compare what they pay for used goods with places like GameStop who buy used video games.
  3. Use your brain piece! You’re smart. Share the knowledge you’ve learned with others and become a tutor. Try connecting with an area school, community organization or even parents’ groups to sell your services. Check with your college also. You may find help wanted advertisements on the bulletin boards across campus or in the library.
  4. Become a paid blogger. Pretty much everybody has a blog now so why not get paid to post? Companies will hire you to write a review of their product on your blog and the cost to you is ZERO! If you don’t have a blog already you can create a free one on places like WordPress, Bloggers and Tumblr. Once you’ve created a blog or if you already have one you can sign up for sites like PayPerPost and SponsoredReviews where advertisers will pay you to blog.
  5. Sell old clothes. We all have them. Clothes that just gets crammed to the back of the closet and never worn again. Get rid of the stinky clutter and sell your old clothes. Most college towns have used clothing stores that will purchase most of your used clothing.
  6. Look for work on or off campus. Check with your Administration offices on campus and see if they need short-term help. You could also check with local business to pick up some weekend shifts.
  7. Pimp your Twitter account. Twitter is all the rage right now and chances are you have a Twitter account. Well, companies will actually pay you to send out paid links to your followers on Twitter. Some companies will even pay you to place an advertisement in the background of your twitter account. Check out places like Sponsored Tweets for more information.
