One Student Review of Delaware College of Art and Design

I attend DCAD. The administration does not value their students whatsoever, they only value their students money. The second year housing complexes are nice, but they are located in a bad area where there are a lot of break-ins, robberies, and heavy drug and police activity. The first year housing complex is infested with rodents, mold, and often has breaks in the water lines that cause flooding in student rooms, which is not handled effectively. If you are looking for a college with a safe campus DCAD is not it. There are zero security guards and no working cameras in the housing buildings, several of my friends and I were walking to an ATM around 9pm and were mugged at gunpoint. The college did not get involved at all and instead insisted that it was our own faults for being out “too late.” Sure, it’s affordable, and I’m going to finish out my semester, but if there is another college you are considering, please take this review to your decision. Also, broken amenities such as washers, dryers, toilets, shower heads, dishwashers, and garbage disposals should be expected to be broken for the remainder of your time at DCAD. There is one repair man and he works a few hours per day; I am personally dealing with an amenity that has been broken for 8 months. I hope this helps.
