In one way or another, we can all understand why a crowd of Palestinians would murder two IDF soldiers without a moment’s hesitation. Both sides of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict harbor deep-seated emotions, biases, and sentiments. People on both sides are prone to murder of people on the opposing side simply for being on the opposing side. Such is the nature of prejudice.

But when a member of one side physically eviscerates one from the other, even after they’ve killed them, you’ve got to stop and wonder about the kind of hate that would drive someone to do such a thing.

Have a look-see at this Israel National News article from 2004 describing- in explicit detail- some of the worst terror attacks to taint Israeli soil- and the history of humankind (and is it ever easy to choose the worst of this kind of thing?).

The most stomach-churning example of terrorism in the article concerns an incident in 2000, shortly after Mohammad al-Durah’s death was faked. A pair of IDF soldiers became lost in the West Bank and were unfortunate enough to wind up in Ramallah.

Now, I’ve heard about the mob of Palestinians that chased them into a building and eventually killed them. I’ve even heard the words “brutal” and “graphic” used in describing how they were killed. Sadly, this type of event is so commonplace in the Arab world that I did not see it as all that shocking. What I did not hear was the horrifying and cannibalistic way in which these so-called people murdered the soldiers. Throw in the bit about one of the cannibals answering one of the IDF soldiers’ phone with “We are killing your husband” and you not only have a morally despicable crowd of subhumans but a bunch of viciously sadistic a******s, too.

Did you do the Google search? See why I didn’t post the picture here? And these weren’t even militants or terrorists.  Just  civilians.

Looking at this from a Muslim radical viewpoint, I can understand- in one way or another- why a group of Palestinians would take advantage of an opportune moment to trap and slaughter two lost IDF soldiers. History has shown us that Muslim militants are capable of worse things (disturbing as that is). The behavior, though, the mindless, cannibalistic, beserker behavior with which the Ramallah civilians eviscerated- and, for some reason, devoured- the soldiers belies a black, foul, and soulless nature that doesn’t attract the attention it should. It is testament to the revolting amount of hatred that is taught in radical Islamic circles.

This incident begs the question, in this relatively civilized day and age- what could possibly possess so many men to eviscerate and devour two human beings? Really, there are only two reasons for ingesting a living, breathing form of life: hunger and hatred (in the animal kingdom, animosity). Obviously not hunger; the West Bank’s economy has steadily been increasing over the years and is now better than it’s ever been. Which leaves us with hatred, begging a second question:

Just how much do you have to hate someone you don’t even know to tear them apart and eat them (after stabbing them, lynching them, and gouging their eyes out)?

Was this an isolated incident? Or does radical Muslim culture in general allow for such barbarism? I can’t say for certain. What happened in Ramallah in 2000 is not enough evidence to reach a conclusion on its own, but it by no means makes radical Islamic allowance of such practices an impossibility. Sheiks, imams, and mullahs all over the world tell us every day, more explicitly than we’d like, just how much they hate the Jews, the Westerners, and in some cases, even non-Muslims (remember Mr. I-Wish-I-Could-Bite-the-Heads-Off-of-Jews-With-My-Teeth?) Keeping this in mind, I am not ready to condemn radical Islamic culture for allowing cannibalism in its circles, but I’m not about to write it off.

This is a problem that moderate Muslims must take responsibility for and fix, just like moderate Christians and Jews take responsibility for their religion when a prominent Christian or Jewish figure says or does something stupid. Like it or not, when someone of a certain faith does something and receives media attention, viewers will hold that person as representative of their faith. It’s not fair, but it’s how life works. And so far, moderate Muslims have done an outstanding job ignoring the atrocities their extremist brothers commit and their sullying the name of Islam.

I’m sure there are some- which is far too many- out there who will defend this sad moment for humankind as a response to the Israeli “occupation” and etcetera and etcetera. All violence directed at Israelis seems to be excusable today under that reason; the deliberate targeting of pre-schools and supermarkets, public buses and cafes, night clubs and restaurants with rockets, suicide attacks, and gunfire are all merely a response to the “occupation”, and never mind that virtually none of these attacks have targeted military compounds. It seems now that Palestine’s so-called liberators will do just about anything to drive the Jews out- even if it means literally tearing them to shreds and devouring them.

Can you really blame Israel for building a wall around itself to keep this madness out?

  1. Correction: I’ve seen some articles that have led me to believe the graphic images the suggested Google image search will yield may in fact be photos of a Muslim crowd in Gaza having eviscerated their Palestinian brethren after some sort of fight (between Palestinian factions or Palestinian and Israeli forces, I don’t know) and victoriously holding one of their hearts up in the air.

The reported cases of cannibalism in the Ramallah incident still stand. But the possible reality of those photos is even worse.

  2. Sadly, I’d even venture to say that’s the case for groups like pro-lifers(or anti-choice,as I say), who don’t publicly condemn the militant individuals that assassinate abortion doctors.

Want people to disassociate images of extremism from your group? Make a fuss and let them know it’s not you. Most people don’t care enough to read into situations and can’t discern between fundamentalists and moderates.

  3. To their credit, those Muslims are extremists/radicals/fundamentalists/militants or whatever you want to call them.

I’m beginning to learn that Muslim moderates don’t necessarily mean any harm; they just don’t care when this kind of thing happens or think it’s useless to protest like they should.

  4. It’s amazing to me that average Muslim citizens around the world can commit the most heinous of murders without ANY second thoughts. It’s literally at the level of “one in a million” sociopaths like Charles Manson, lacking both emotional attachment and any level of moral consciousness, yet its being performed in mass by common, educated, middle-lower-class Muslims around the world in the name of their god. Even the most famous of violent evils in world history – Spanish explorers, Pol Pot, Nazis – didn’t perform to such animalistic levels…
